Birchwood Four Corners Emergency Services District will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 6:30 PM, BFCESD offices at 101 West Loomis Street, Suite B, Birchwood WI.

BFCESD March 10 2022 Meeting Minutes (Approved 4/14/2022)

 

  1. Pledge of Allegiance.
  2. Roll Call—see above
  3. The American Legion Auxiliary presented the BFCESD Building Fund with a total of $4,000.00 for the Spaghetti Dinner on Feb 19, 2022
  4. James Whitehead made a motion to approve the Feb 10, 2022 Meeting Minutes, 2nd by Al Dirkes, carried 6-0
  5. Public Input—Linda Zillmer-concern of risk management that sidewalk on Hwy D/Euclid Ave property isn’t being shoveled and people are walking on the Hwy. Updates regarding Sawyer Cty rate changes and new billing company. Virginia Sandridge pleased to see the sale of the property and the rebirth of the Fire/Amb station.  Virginia also presented $1640.00 from the Memorials of Leroy to go to the Building Fund.

  3. Mike Hessling will compile the Commissioners contact list
  4. Fund Raising Committee Report—met March 3 in a closed session. Mike created a Q & A spreadsheet and drafted a letter to be use to send to prospective donors by all commissioners.  Mike and Ken George met with the Cleveland’s and will keep them up to date  on the progress of the fundraising.   Mike will be working on an updated agreement for the Cleveland’s.  Next meeting will be 3/24/2022.
  5. Building Committee report. At the last meeting we agreed to have NWB do a Phase 1 & 2 for the building and will bring that to the board at the April meeting for discussion.
  6. Update on Risk Assessment that the auditor Brandon Willger mentioned. Mike Hessling talked to Dairy State Bank.   Al Dirkes made a motion to approve signing of the document attached for the collateral of $1,000,000.00 above the FDIC,  2nd by James, Carried  6-0
  1. Al Dirkes made a motion to approve donations that were received since the Feb 10, 2022 meeting including the $4,000 from the Legion Auxiliary of the total of $5,275.00, 2nd by James Whitehead, carried 6-0
  2. James Whitehead made a motion to approve Bookkeepers report as presented, 2nd by Al Dirkes, carried  6-0
  3. Al Dirkes made a motion to approve Bills as presented for payment epay# 110-115 and checks # 8009-8056, 2nd by James Whitehead, carried 6-0
  4. Review Correspondence. Card from Bill and Nancy Zabel w/ brick donation, Dairy State Bank regarding security collateral and email from Linda Zillmer regarding Sawyer Cty rate survey (Cindy email to all commissioners). Mike Hessling rec’d an email from Ken Leners regarding steps in doing a closed session. Also, rec’d DNR agreement Ken George and Mike signed it as there were no changes.
  1. Commissioners Input.

**Town of Birchwood—Rick Oswalt—talked to everyone regarding loan for the difference of the building and Township will be upgrading their loan amount.

**Town of Cedar Lake—Mike Hessling—will be working on updating the bylaws to reflect the correct sections that the Town of Birchwood is covered by the BFCESD.  Would like to see if we could have a BFCESD Auxiliary to help with the fund raising etc. would like an agenda item in April.

**Town of Doyle—Al Dirkes—was wondering what their share of the building would be with the corrected Town of Birchwood area covered.

Town of Edgewater—Pete Baribeau—absent

Town of Long Lake—James Whitehead—would like to get the breakdowns before the April meeting.  Hoping to get loan secured.  Have a couple donors.  Debbie and James are getting an article ready to send to the newspapers regarding the Cleveland Family matching grant.

Town of Wilson—Cindy Fairchild—nothing

Village of Birchwood—Dan Wichser—John Depoister had set money aside in a capital acct for the purpose of the new building.
